That said, when I am working on my desk and have the MacBook Pro attached to an external display, I mostly use an external keyboard and mouse. Now, whether you are using a Magic Mouse or a third-party mouse, one thing that you need is a mouse pad. You can use your mouse without it but you won’t have the same consistency that you will get when using a mouse pad.
